Lecture First! Beautiful Slabs at ABC Stone

With the information gathered at this seminar, and our experience in designing Long Island, Hamptons, and N.Y.C. apartment interiors, we are very well versed in the best options for our client’s homes, based on their needs and lifestyles.
Stone countertops offer a natural beauty that’s hard to match in the man-made world. If you’re looking for a countertop with some individuality stone may be for you! Granite is probably the most common, widely used stone countertop surface. Granite is a very hard surface and won’t be scratched by knives, is low maintenance, and very durable. Granite comes in a wide range of colors and patterns.

Marble-what a beautiful, elegant stone! The visual characteristics such as veining cannot be found in other stones. At Marilyn H. Rose Interiors, the client is always made aware that marble is susceptible to etching from acids which is not preventable by sealing. It is softer than granite, and therefore scratches more easily, but the look is unparalleled.

At Marilyn H. Rose Interiors some of our client’s lifestyles lend themselves to a different choice in countertops. For them quartz an “engineered” stone may be the best option. A manufacturing plant uses quartz crystals (approx. 95%) and mixes them with resin. Yes, we still refer to quartz as a natural stone, but it’s not as natural as granite. Quartz is one of the strongest materials on the planet! It is also non-porous so a great stain resister, and basically maintenance free! Quartz tends to be less dramatic in colorization, but many minimalists prefer a more monochromatic kitchen.
